Happy New Year from all of us here at Beauty Empire Story! 2020 is over and we made it! Give yourself a pat on the back for that. It was tough year but here's to a brighter, better, and healthier 2021.

To kick off the year, we're sharing easy New Year's resolutions that will not only positively impact your hair but in some cases also your mind and your body. Take a look at them below and let us know which you'll be doing this year by leaving us a comment below.


1. Drinking more water

Up to 60% of the human body is water. It's vital to our body's vitality and health. Try increasing the amount of water that you drink in a day and see how it helps to improve your health. Studies have shown that drinking eight 8-ounce glasses of water can help to improve brain function, energy levels, aid weight loss, and improve your hair health.


2. Indulging in self-care activities

Self-care is any action that you do to take care of your mind, body or soul. These are activities that calm your mind and spirit and reduce stress. 3. Staying away from heat and chemicals

Repairing heat damaged hair and transitioning from perms is no easy task. Perms and relaxers, in particular, have to be cut out and heat damaged hair can be repaired but only if the damage isn't too bad. Check out these super cute heatless hairstyles to give you some ideas for 2021.


4. Wearing protective styles

We all know that wearing protective styles can do wonders for curly hair. Curly hair has more twists and turns than straight hair making it more delicate and prone to breakage. Whether you choose to go for wigs, braids or weaves you are bound to find a protective style that is right for you and your lifestyle.


5. Having regular trims

Whether you are looking to grow your hair or maintain a haircut, having regular trims is great for preventing split ends. If you are trying to maintain your length then cutting your hair every 6-8 weeks is recommended, whereas for growing it out you can wait a bit longer between trims, so shoot for every 8-10 weeks. It's important to trim your hair even if you are growing it out to get rid of dry and split ends. 


6. Sleeping with satin protection

Cotton pillows might feel comfortable but they actually pull on your hair and can cause split ends and fairy knots. Avoid them and protect your hairstyle by sleeping with a satin headscarf or pillow (just in case your headscarf comes off).


7. Cleaning up your diet

"What you eat is what you are." We're all heard that one, right? It's true what you eat affects your health and your wellbeing. Did you also know that you can use food directly on your hair as well? So here's our seven resolutions for you to choose from. As with any new change in your life, if you haven't been doing something before then it will take some time before it becomes routine.
