How to Straighten Kinky Hair Step-by-Step

Step 1: Getting the best results from straightening your hair starts from when you wash it. If you have very kinky hair it's best to wash it in sections to make it more manageable and much easier to detangle. Shampoo and deep condition each section of your hair and use a big-toothed comb to remove any knots.
Step 2: Keep your hair in sections and use a towel to blot away as much of the excess moisture as you can.
Step 3: After applying leave-in conditioner and heat protector, use the tension method to blow-dry your hair in small sections, this will help to elongate the curls and kinks. (The tension method is where you stretch and hold your hair and then use the hair dryer to blow warm air onto it thus preserving the shape).
Step 4: Go over your sections with the hairdryer pik to make the sections even smoother before you begin straightening it.
Step 5: Apply a little more heat protector and some olive oil and then using a rat-tail comb and your flat iron straighten your hair in small sections. Use 350F to 400F for best results.
Step 6: Once straightened style your hair however you like! We recommend adding a little coconut oil to make your hair shine and minimize frizz
