MUST-HAVE HAIRCARE PRODUCTS

There are so many different Black hair care products on the market - balms, oils and creams, but which ones do you really need? Today, we're sharing staple hair care products that you should have in your collection to help your hair  thrive.

If you're worried that your hair collection doesn't compare to what others are using then this blog post is for you. It goes without saying that you need shampoo and a standard conditioner so in this post we're going to skip them. Let's get into it.

LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER

Black hair is notorious for being drier and more fragile than other hair types. If you're wondering how porous (and therefore how dry your hair is) then check out this blog post on hair types and porosity. A good leave-in leave-in conditioner is going to keep your hair hydrated, boosting shine and help to alleviate any heat damage.

DETANGLER

Especially if you have hair that's easier tangled, detangler is going to be your best friend. Often overlooked in hair care collections, detangler works by smoothing your hair follicles to help prevent tangles from occurring and helps to make it easier to work tangles out when they occur.

EDGE CONTROL/GEL

This one isn't an essential but if you want to style your edges in swirls and arches like you may have seen people doing then you'll need a good edge control that can hold your hair without flaking. And if you want a super smooth ponytail then gel is going to give you that amazing hold and shine.

DEEP CONDITIONING MASK

We've already spoken about how Black hair is drier than other hair types. Take a look at this blog post for our key deep conditioning tips. A good deep conditioner is going to make your hair absolutely thrive. To keep the moisture in between washes use the L.O.C method, which you can learn a bit more about in this blog post on how to look after curly hair.

CURL CREAM

Make your curls pop with a high-quality curling cream. It will help to define your curls, keep them hydrated and give them some shine. If you're going to attempt to curl your hair without heat through Bantu knots, braids or other twists then apply curl cream to help your curls set.
